On Sunday, January 7, instead of welcoming new Archbishop of Warsaw, polish catholics were presented with an announcement that Archbishop Stanislaw Wielgus’ resignation was accepted by the pope Benedict XVI. The inaugural Mass was hastily turned into Thanksgiving Mass for the outgoing Archbishop of Warsaw Cardinal Glemp.
